Great creative projects rarely begin with a perfect plan. More often, they begin with a question, a rough sketch, a few lines of dialogue, a melody recorded on a phone, or an idea that keeps coming back.

That is why summer is such a valuable time for creators.

DigiFest® Temecula 2027 takes place on April 23, 24, and 25, 2027, and submissions open on October 1, 2026. You do not have to wait until submissions begin to start creating. Meaningful projects take time, and summer gives you space to explore ideas, learn new skills, and build your work without rushing.

Maybe you have been thinking about making a short film, recording an original song, designing a website, creating an animation, writing a script, producing a podcast, developing a game, or building a photography series. You do not need every detail figured out. You simply need to take the first step.

Start by asking yourself what you want people to see, hear, think, or feel. What story do you want to tell? Why does it matter to you? Who do you hope will connect with it?

Once you understand the heart of your project, begin experimenting. Film a practice scene. Record a rough version of your song. Sketch a character. Test an animation style. Draft the opening page of your script. Create a sample website layout. Gather images, sounds, colors, and ideas that can help shape your creative direction.

Starting now also gives you time to make mistakes, ask for feedback, and strengthen your work. You may realize that a scene needs clearer dialogue, a photograph needs different lighting, or a podcast needs a stronger structure. That does not mean the project is failing. It means the project is growing.

Create a simple summer plan to keep moving forward. Choose one small goal each week, such as writing one page, filming one scene, recording one minute of audio, designing one graphic, or editing five photographs. Little and consistent progress can turn an unfinished idea into something you are proud to share.

DigiFest® welcomes work from students, higher education creators, and professionals. Talent is recognized at every level and age because creativity does not require permission. It simply needs an opportunity to be seen.
