Every October, JDS Creative Academy turns into a creative space full of lights, sound, and storytelling for its annual Haunted Studio event. This yearโs theme, โAlice in Underland,โ was a huge success, bringing students and the community together to celebrate imagination and teamwork.
A Hands-On Learning Experience
Haunted Studio isnโt just a Halloween attractionโitโs a learning project. Students take part in every step of the process: acting, set design, lighting, costuming, and production. The event gives them real experience in performing arts and digital media education, while showing how creativity and collaboration can bring a story to life.
Inclusion at the Heart
A key part of JDS Creative Academyโs mission is inclusive arts education, and Haunted Studio reflects that. Participants from the Title 17 Job Training Program participated alongside peers to create a professional-level event. Everyone had a role to play, whether on stage or behind the scenes, and every contribution mattered. Itโs this teamwork and inclusion that make the event truly special.
Building Confidence and Skills
Through projects like Haunted Studio, JDS Creative Academy continues to deliver on its goal of empowering all abilities through the arts. Students learn professional skills in communication, teamwork, and productionโskills that go beyond the classroom and help prepare them for creative careers.
A Community Effort
This yearโs Haunted Studio welcomed our amazing donors, record attendance and great feedback from families and guests. It was a clear reminder of how the arts can connect people, inspire creativity, and strengthen the community.
As the event wrapped up, everyoneโstudents, mentors, and volunteersโwalked away proud of what they accomplished together.
Haunted Studio 2025 showed once again that education through innovation works best when creativity, inclusion, and opportunity come together.
